The journal Amfiteatru Economic (Economic Amphitheatre) assumed the role of facilitating communication of scientific research concerns in the field of economics and business administration among the scientific community, and of fostering [a stimula] intercultural and interdisciplinary dialogue, internationally, on some topics that are set up for each issue.

Amfiteatru Economic joined the economic mainstream of economi and international business scientific publications, gaining recognition and international visibility, and advocating the promotion of values such as original intellectual creation, quality and scientific level of the papers, promoting empirical research and applicability, as well as enouraging the work of young researchers.

Amfiteatru Economic is among the most highly rated research publications in Romania. Of the 58 journals classified in category A (ISI) by the National Research Council (CNCS), only Amfiteatru Economic and another two journals are specialized in economics.

Amfiteatru Economic hosts papers authored by researchers coming mainly from academia, but also from business or the administrative field.

The areas of research include economics, domestic and international trade, marketing, business ethics, business governance, business management, international relations, and many more.

The scientific relevance of the content of the journal is guaranteed and endorsed by a Scientific board made up of 21 personalities (of whom 14 are affiliated to foreign universities) and the quality of the contributions is ensured by 19 editors (including 5 from abroad). The editorial group – which provides a good geographical coverage – is composed of experienced professors and researchers, all of whom are PhD. The average value of the Hirsch index of the editorial board is 2. Acceptance for publication follows the "double-blind peer review" procedure. The journal has an important body of external reviewers (55), coming from the academic environment at home and abroad, all of them doctors in economics, covering various specializations. http://www.amfiteatrueconomic.ro/ReferentiExterni_EN.aspx

The journal is quoted by ISI Thomson Reuters, and its 2010 – 2013 impact factor was:

  • 2010 = 0.320
  • 2011 = 0.757
  • 2012 = 0.953

According to CNCS data, in Romania, in the economic sphere there are three journals that are quoted and indexed by ISI Thomson Reuters. Comparing the impact factor in 2012, one can notice that Amfiteatru Economic comes first.

    Analyzing the Traffic Report for 2011 – 2012 and 2013 (January 1 – July 1), it can be found that the journal has significantly increased its exposure abroad, and enjoys an increasingly wide international recognition.

    Apart from Romania, where the highest number of visitors was recorded (in 2011 a number of 12,418, and in 2012 a total of 13,590), there are many other countries like the USA (385, and 283), Great Britain (319, and 150) Serbia (252, and 283), Australia (223, and 100), Germany (167, and 135), Spain, Turkey, India, Moldova and Italy, each with over 100 visitors.

    In 2012, in the 2 issues of the journal, no. 31 and no. 32, and in the special issue no. 6, we had a total of 40 foreign authors.

    The journal is printed in 100 copies per issue. It is distributed to the responsible factors of ASE (the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest), and ASE authors who contributed a paper. Also, it is sent to ASE’s library and inter-library exchanges, nationally and abroad.

    In terms of increasing the domestic and international visibility and audience of the journal Amfiteatru Economic, we propose:

    1. Getting better feedback on the opinion of the authors and readers of the magazine, and their suggestions for improving its quality;
    2. Promoting the journal in the academic milieu in this country and abroad, as well as within the European Network Services (RESER);
    3. Increasing the impact factor;
    4. Supporting and promoting young researchers;
    5. Preventing plagiarism;
    6. Improving activity concerning eligibility and the peer review of the papers;
    7. Increasing the functionality of the site;
    8. Indexing in still other international databases.

    Amfiteatru Economic will encourage high scientific research, which contributes to broadening the horizon of knowledge in the field of economics. Our journal aims to become a prestigious forum of interdisciplinary debates, both in theory and practice, addressing research topics relevant nationally, regionally and internationally.
